STUDIO

Urban Myth Studio was built by Photographer Peter Martinez and offers professional amenities at one of the lowest rates in Brooklyn.  Located where East Williamsburg meets Bushwick, 4 minutes walk from the Jefferson stop on the L-line subway, the studio provides personalized service, select equipment rentals and a 1,000sf studio that features

 a custom made white hard cyc wall (14 feet wide x 16 feet deep x 14 feet high), large windows with south western exposure with fast black out option, a large center room skylight with sliding black out shutter, a built-in hair & makeup station, a computer desk and a large, private, in studio bathroom with shower.

STUDIO RENTAL RATES

The rate for a still photo shoot is $175 for a half day (1-4 hours) • $350 for a full day (5-8 hours.) *

The rate for a video shoot is $200 for a half day (1-4 hours) • $400 for a full day (5-8 hours.) *

(* for groups of 9 people or less total)

The hourly rate $50 per hour for photo and $60 per hour for video. Over time is $75 per hour.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE COMPLETELY LOADED OUT BY THE END OF YOUR SCHEDULED SESSION TIME.

To avoid overtime charges please wrap in time to return the studio to the condition you found it in by the end of your rental time.

(Groups of 10 or more people and uses deemed to have a heavy impact on the studio, will be charged an additional fee and/or cleaning security deposit.)

DEPOSITS - PAYMENTS

A  deposit of 50% is required to secure studio time. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Please note that until someone has placed a deposit on a time slot that time remains available to everyone.

You should double check the status of your requested time  just prior to placing a deposit as time that was available the day before may have been booked by someone else in the interim.

The deposit and balance payments can be made at the studio in cash or on-line through PayPal "instant transfer" only.  (Please No E-Checks).

THE BALANCE FOR STUDIO AND EQUIPMENT  IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR RENTAL TIME.   PLEASE PAY BEFORE YOU START.

CYC WALL

The cyc wall and floor is painted white and is repainted about once every other week but does get scuffed through normal wear and tear and may have marks on it when you show up.

If you want us to repaint the cyc wall and floor white just before your session there is a $30 painting fee.

Please let us know 24 hours in advance.

GETTING IN

Please don't arrive early as the studio may be occupied or we may be resetting the space or away from the location or even taking a break. ;-)

We don't have a waiting area. ;-(

When you do arrive call me at 212-729-6406  I'll let you in. After that, have any later arrivals call you directly and you will then need to let them in. Thanks for your cooperation.

RENTER'S RESPONSIBILITY / STUDIO RULES

PLEASE DON'T ARRIVE EARLY!  The studio might be occupied by someone else or getting reset for your session or we may be taking a break and you won’t be able to get in till the time that you are scheduled to start. There’s no waiting area in the building.

If you or someone from your crew does arrive early there is a great coffee shop  to wait in called "Caffe’ Vita" just 1 block away @ 576 Johnson Ave. When it is time for you rental to start you can buzz #9 or call me from down stairs and I will buzz you in. The studio is on the second floor.

(these usually won’t show up in your photo's)  If you need the cyc in close to perfect condition we can repaint the cyc wall and floor white the night before your session for a $30 painting fee. Please let us know 24 hours in advance if you'd like this service.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP KNOWS NOT TO STEP ON THE CURVED PART OF THE CYC WHERE THE FLOOR MEETS THE WALL.  ALSO PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THE BACK WALL OR SIDE WALL AS YOU WILL LEAVE MARKS.  If you have to touch the walls or step on the curved part of the cyc and you leave marks (and you will leave marks) there is a $30 “re-painting fee" to do that.  I know that’s a lot about the CYC.  Sorry to go on about it, but everybody benefits by keeping the cyc in good shape and your help is appreciated!

On a related subject, if it doesn’t have wheels please don’t drag it on the studio floor or cyc area. Any furniture or equipment that you need to move should be picked up, carried and placed. Please make sure that you return anything that you moved to it’s original location before you leave.

I no longer allow glitter in the studio unless you’ve established a specific arrangement with us. (it takes a month to get rid of it)  Also please clear it with me before doing anything with fire, liquids, paint, wind, confetti or smoke.

If you have your kids with you please note that the studio is not kid proof.  The studio is built for adult use so please take extreme care if you have any children in your group and make sure that you have an eye on them at all times.  You are responsible for their safety.

It’s important that anyone operating any equipment know what they're doing.  If you’re not sure about something please ask first.  I’m always happy to help out.

Please leave the studio in the same condition you found it in.  Return all furniture and equipment to is original location, throw away all trash and take all your things with you. If you leave a mess you may be charged a $30-$50  "studio reset" fee.

Your rental time should include the time you need to wrap but I know that it doesn’t always work out that way.   If your running late I do allow a 20min grace period so you can finish wrapping up without going into overtime.  Even if you are running late you can’t keep shooting past your scheduled time with out checking with me to see if overtime is available. If you think you’ll need extra time try to let me know as early as possible.   Overtime is billed at a rate of 1.5 x the standard hourly rate.

And finally!

"You" (the person renting the studio) are responsible for the studio and it's contents as well as the safety of "Your Group” (including all the other people in the studio with you).  "You" individually assume all responsibility and all liability for any damage, theft or injuries, whether negligent or not, that occur during your scheduled time as a result of your actions or of the actions of anyone else in "Your Group".  By renting the studio "You" promise to personally reimburse the studio for repair or replacement costs relating to the damage or loss of any studio property that occurs during your rental time.  "You" hereby certify that  studio equipment will only be operated by qualified studio technicians in a manner that is safe for everyone in the studio.  All equipment must be operated with due care in a  manor that does not exceed the capabilities of the studio or it's electrical system.   Please take note of the condition and arrangement of the studio and it's contents when you arrive as "You" are responsible for returning the studio to the condition in which you found it and “You" agree to pay a "studio reset fee" of $30-$50 if you have not put the studio back in proper order by the time you leave.   Finally "You" agree to ensure that you, "Your Group" and all of your property will be out of the studio by the end of your session and "You" agree to pay any overtime fees that you incur as a result of staying in the studio past your rental period. We are not responsible for any property left in the studio after your session.
